Safety Measures in Action as 40+ Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threats

More than 40 schools in Delhi were targeted with bomb threat emails, causing widespread alarm among parents, students, and authorities. Delhi Police confirmed the threats were a hoax after conducting thorough checks across the institutions.

Delhi Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi assured citizens that measures are being taken to ensure the safety of schools and students. "We are committed to providing security and will make every possible effort to do so," he stated. Tyagi also confirmed that authorities are tracking the email source and plan to take strict action against the sender.

Prominent Schools Targeted

Delhi Public School (DPS) RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar were among the 44 institutions that received the threatening email. Students were immediately sent home, and authorities were alerted to the situation.

The email, sent at 11:38 pm on Sunday, claimed bombs had been planted within the school premises. "The bombs are small and hidden very well," read the email, which also included a demand for $30,000 to defuse the explosives.

Police Launch Investigations

The Delhi Police has deployed cyber teams to trace the email's IP address. Bomb detection squads, dog teams, and local police rushed to the schools early Monday morning. The first alert came from GD Goenka School at 6:15 am, followed by DPS RK Puram at 7:06 am.

Despite an extensive search operation, no suspicious objects were found, officials confirmed. The Delhi Fire Department and police have deemed the threats a hoax but continue their investigation.

Political Leaders React

The incident has drawn sharp criticism from political leaders. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital, urging Home Minister Amit Shah to take responsibility. In a social media post, he wrote, "The people of Delhi have never seen such a poor state of law and order. Amit Shah ji should answer the people."

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP leader Manish Sisodia also criticised the BJP-led central government, accusing it of failing to ensure safety. "Our children are not safe. If Delhi is not secure, what is the central government doing?" Sisodia remarked.

Similar Incident in October

This is not the first time Delhi schools have faced such threats. In October, an explosion near a CRPF school in Rohini’s Prashant Vihar caused damage to property. The following day, bomb threats targeting all CRPF schools were received via email, later confirmed as hoaxes.

Authorities are intensifying their efforts to prevent such incidents and reassure the public about the safety of Delhi schools.
