Delhi’s 30-Foot Cockroach Effigy Alongside Ravana Sparks Political Row! 🪳🔥
This Dussehra, a 30-foot-tall cockroach effigy burned alongside Ravana in Delhi’s Pitampura has sparked a political controversy.
Organised by the Shree Keshav Ramlila Committee, led by BJP MLA Ashok Goel, the effigy was reportedly intended to symbolise filth and promote the Swachh Bharat campaign. However, its appearance has also been interpreted as a possible political jibe at the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which has been protesting alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
CJP leaders responded sarcastically, thanking the organisers for the “free publicity” and describing the installation as a “spectacle.”
The unusual addition to the traditional Dussehra celebrations has triggered online debate over the intersection of political satire, public messaging and religious festivities.
What do you think? Was the cockroach effigy a cleanliness awareness initiative or political satire? Share your views in the comments.
