Meet Mayur Chettiar: A founder who revived a failing business

The early stages of Mayur's life were marked by rejection. From taking 2 years off to find his own identity to failing to get admitted to IIT Design by just 2 marks, he wasn't welcomed with open arms by life and its components. What does a person do in such circumstances? Don't know about the others, but Mayur is not your average guy. Being an army kid, hustling and creating have always been a part of Mayur’s life. And if life doesn't give you lemons upfront, you hustle till you get the lemons in your pocket!

Failures made him even more motivated and Mayur created his own Instagram page “sir. Creative.” That was him commanding his returns from life - His talent brought him over 30k followers in just 2 years. He was still pursuing his Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Bharati Vidyapeeth at the time. By the time he graduated, this so-called clown had transformed into getting first-class distinction on his final year college exam. Who was gonna believe that, huh?

But then again, life was going to throw something at him that he didn't expect. After topping the final year exam, Mayur got selected by Cognizant as a UI UX designer/consultant through campus placements. But, because he took a gap of 2 years after the 12th, the same company rejected Mayur in the final round. If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk. And if you can’t walk, crawl. Moving forward is the only option one can opt for to fulfil his dreams. When Mayur was rejected by one company, he didn't let it stop him; he found another employer that was happy to hire him at a good salary.

Everyone around him was happy. His family and friends were proud of him.

In this happiness, Mayur was feeling empty in his stomach. He knew he must take a different path because he was not satisfied or perhaps we can say he knew he had to change directions. Mayur was not ready to settle for anything less than everything he deserved. And not surprisingly, he did ensure that found it. While working for the other company, Mayur came to know about Kaamyup. He decided to change gears and start working for this venture. It was then he realised that the CTO of Kaamyup was quitting this company as he was not sure about its future.

Mayur was all alone with a new designation where the company was dying. The situation was hard. But Mayur had found his missing piece with Kaamyup. Come hell or high water, he was ready to fight back. Once he was clear with his vision, Mayur asked his friend Ayush Yadav to join Kaamyup. The first, thing that was done was to give Kaamyup its heart. Mayur wanted to make Kaamyup alive as he knew the name and the brand would stick with the audience. After hours and days of brainstorming, they came up with a new version of Kaamyup, a version that could scale better than all previous versions.

Mayur and Ayush met Jay, who was interning with them at the time. He enthusiastically took the CTO position when it was offered to him since they wanted him to have a bigger share in the business and create this alongside them. In addition to their new placements, they resemble the triangle's equal sides. Even when others warned them, their plan wouldn't work, the three of them continued to work every day and tested extensively for months. And after just three months of its release, they were able to beta test the app with more than 500 users.

Today, the new Kaamyup founded by Mayur Chettiar is rising from an unskilled kid to a business guru. “Kaamyup” is an All-in-one platform for business owners and freelancers. It is not just a startup. It is a testimony of Mayur's capability to adapt to any situation. It is an all-in-one business platform that answers all questions for an early-stage entrepreneur on one app. They have numerous tools at their disposal to easily manage any business or freelancer because it is a Tinder + Slack combination. Kaamyup has also been chosen for Season 2 of Shark Tank India.

Being an entrepreneur is an ongoing process where you learn, make the mistake and find solutions. Mayur, Ayush and Jay were so busy making this app easier for a freelancer, they completely forgot about making the experience easier for the clients as well. However, as we are all aware, every problem has a fix. Three of them are pursuing the issue, and within the next month, they will have a completely simple method of hiring for all clients.

Every entrepreneur finds joy in their strugglings. These obstacles made them strong enough to move forward.  Mayur Chettiar imparted his knowledge to others. He held that one of the benefits of being a founder is that no one tells you what to do or how to live your life. You have complete flexibility to develop your own culture at whatever rate you choose. If you are truly passionate about what you do, you will accomplish things much more quickly than you ever could in a full-time position.

Sometimes, what we need is not a push But rather a pull to keep going. And Mayur got himself pulled by his parents. Throughout the journey, his parents were very supportive of him. Mayur also mentioned how a game theory is similar to how strong a founder he is. He is aware of what interests individuals, and he bases his choices on what they could be considering. The CEO of Kaamyup has always been good at creating advertisements and marketing products. He believed that these skills are inherent in him which helped him to design the new version and business model of Kaamyup. These two skills have become the two lifelines of Mayur which help him to survive in difficult times.

During this journey, Mayur strongly believed in “Networking.” He never got hesitant to ask for help from other startup founders or freelancers. He respects their time, advice and help. He also urges his counterparts to factor in networks around us and their importance. He firmly believes that one can always upgrade himself before taking loans or investing their own money. He thinks that the most crucial quality is "belief," and that everyone who wants to launch a firm must unquestionably believe in the thing they have built.

Any less-than-complete belief will cause you to begin doubting your startup, which will ultimately result in your failure.
