Actor Shah Rukh Khan's security detail has been beefed up in response to his stated concerns about receiving death threats. According to the news agency, the Maharashtra government has upgraded its security level to the Y+ category. Shah Rukh Khan has filed a written complaint with the state government, asserting that he had been receiving threatening calls after the release of his films Pathan and Jawan. Sources revealed that the Maharashtra State Intelligence Directorate (SID) has instructed all police commissioners, district police and Special Protection Units (SPUs) in the state to provide "Y+ level security immediately along with an escort team for Khan.
This official communication, which was dated October 5, also mentioned that the increased security measures have been put in place due to recent "imminent and probable" threats to Shah Rukh. As per the Y+ category, Shah Rukh will be accompanied by a team of 11 security personnel, including six commandos, four police officers, and a traffic clearance vehicle. These personnel will be stationed at Mannat, his residence in Mumbai.
This action comes as a response to a previous escalation in security measures around Mannat in light of protests against Shah Rukh. In August, there were demonstrations aimed at celebrities who endorsed online gaming apps. Additionally, in March of that same year, two individuals managed to enter the premises of Mannat by climbing over its outer wall. The Mumbai Police have confirmed that the intruders were successfully apprehended by the security guards.
Shah Rukh's latest film, Jawan, has been a tremendous success, earning an impressive ₹1103.27 crore globally. Directed by Atlee, this movie premiered worldwide on September 7 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. Additionally, it showcases talented actors Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, along with special appearances by Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt.
