Drake continues to surprise his fans after having been in the music industry for fifteen years. The release of "Her Loss," the collaborative album by Drake and 21 Savage, has been set for Friday, October 28. Along with the music video for "Jimmy Cooks" off the upcoming album "Honestly, Nevermind," which was released back in June of this year, the release date and title of the upcoming album were made public.
Due to Drake's social media announcement, the music video was also released on 21 Savage's birthday. The announcement for the release of "Her Loss" was posted at the 1:25 mark of the "Jimmy Cooks" audio-visual production. The "Jimmy Cooks" music video was directed by Mahfuz Sultan and features the duo in front of a screen that is playing audiovisuals in the backdrop.
The character Drake portrayed in the television show Degrassi: The Next Generation, Jimmy Brooks, is thought to be the inspiration for "Jimmy Cooks." The song, which was released in July of this year, debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
The slapping incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars is highlighted in the song.
Drake's collaboration with Her Loss will be his first since the 2015 album What a Time to Be Alive. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 list and has now achieved platinum status. Since the 2020 release of Savage Mode II with producer Metro Boomin, 21 Savage hasn't worked on a joint project. Prior to it, he collaborated on Without Warning with Metro Boomin and Offset in 2017 and released the first Savage Mode project the year before.
Her Loss will be the Canadian rapper's third album to be published in as little as 13 months, following the surprise dance album Honestly, Nevermind's release in May, and September's Certified Lover Boy. Fans of the artist may remember that he previously released three projects in less than two years, between 2015 and 2016, when his collaboration with Future topped the charts.
