Alia Bhatt's involvement in the highly anticipated film YRF Spy Universe has been the subject of months of conjecture. On Tuesday, during the FICCI Frames event, Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani finally confirmed this significant development.
In answer to constant requests regarding a new development within the YRF Spy Universe, Akshaye revealed, "I'll share the worst-kept secret in the industry, which is that Alia Bhatt is starring in a Spy Universe film, and the schedule begins later this year. Nevertheless, speaking of this spy realm, we are ecstatic to have this IP in the studio.
In the thrilling action-packed, yet-to-be-titled film, Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh will appear together on screen as super-agents. The action movie is scheduled to start filming later this year.
The YRF ‘Spy Universe’
Akshaye Widhani went on to say that he considers YRF Spy Universe to be a financial and cultural success. We are proud of one of the most valuable intellectual properties. Thus, there will be a lot of developments in the spy realm. There will be an increasing number of films produced under it. Naturally, I won't disclose everything here. We'll discuss it when it's more appropriate. For now, I can confirm that Alia Bhatt will star in a spy universe film," stated Akshaye.
The YRF Spy Universe began with Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, followed by Tiger Zinda Hai and War, starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. Then came Pathaan, starring John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, and Tiger 3, with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The upcoming film in the franchise is War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani.
