Results for the Std. X and Std. XII board examinations were eventually released by the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) on Friday. The total pass rates, which now stand at 93.12 and 87.33 percent for grades X and XII, respectively, have significantly decreased from the previous year. According to CBSE authorities, the board has decided to suspend awarding first, second, and third divisions based on test results from pupils.
The CBSE won't provide a merit list in order to prevent unhealthy student competitiveness. However, the board will award merit certificates to 0.1% of students who received the best scores in a range of topics, according to a statement made by the CBSE's controller of exams on Friday afternoon. According to Bharadwaj, who was speaking about recent developments, "CBSE has changed the nomenclature of the compartment examination to supplemental examination in light of the suggestions made by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Students should be given additional opportunities to enhance their performance in one topic during the supplemental test, as it is intended in the NEP 2020. The supplemental test will be held in the month of July 2023 for all students who were placed in the supplementary category and for those who want to enhance their results. The same's dates will be released soon. A follow-up test will be given in 2023 using the same material as the primary test. The board has agreed to start holding the Std. X and XII exams in 2024 on February 15, 2024.
The pass rate for Std XII this year, 87.33 percent, is higher than 83.40 percent in 2019, the previous year before the epidemic.
