Amazon will no longer accept Rs 2000 notes for COD from this date

The world's largest online retailer, Amazon, has provided an update on the use of Rs. 2000 banknotes for cash-on-delivery services. According to Amazon's FAQ on 'using Rs. 2,000 notes for Cash on Delivery (COD) Payments and Cashloads," the e-commerce company will discontinue taking Rs. 2000 notes as cash as of September 19.

“Amazon is currently accepting Rs. 2,000 currency notes. However, from September 19, 2023, we will not be accepting Rs. 2,000 currency notes for cashloads or Cash on Delivery (COD) payments for orders Fulfilled by Amazon."

However, it went further to state that the 2000 currency notes will be accepted if the product is delivered by a third-party delivery partner.

“However, if your product is delivered through a third-party courier partner, their own policies around the acceptance of Rs. 2,000 currency notes will apply," it said.

If you still have Rs. 2000 currency, you can exchange them at your local bank branch. After the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) removed the 2000 rupee notes from circulation on May 19, 2023, many people are still going to banks to exchange or deposit them.

Nearly four months had been allotted by the Reserve Bank for the deposit or exchange of Rs. 2000 notes. The deadline for exchanging or depositing 2000 Rs. notes is September 30, 2023.
