Norwegian tech brand, reMarkable, headquartered in Oslo, has made its grand entry into the Indian market with the release of its reMarkable 2, a paper-styled tablet designed to cater a specific niche, knowledge and business users. reMarkable 2 is the second product from the tech startup but the first to hit the Indian market, available on Amazon India and remarkable.com.
The paper-styled tablet’s minimalist design and user interface aims at reducing distractions. It is priced at ₹53,799, with a one-year free subscription plan. Following the initial subscription period, users can opt for plans starting at ₹299 per month or ₹2,990 annually.
It operates on Codex, a Linux-based platform, the device features 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB), and runs on an ARM A9 dual-core 1.2 GHz processor.
The tablet has a 10.3-inch LCD display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, weighing approximately 476 grams, powered by a 3,000mAh battery, offering two weeks of battery life and three months of standby time, with a Type-C port for charging.
Users can combine and rearrange handwriting as well as type on the same page, annotate directly on PDFs and ebooks, organise their notes and documents with folders and tags. It specialises in converting handwritten notes into typed text. The tablet comes equipped with a magnetic stylus for typing or writing, which seamlessly converts handwritten notes into shareable formats.
Manufactured in China, the reMarkable 2 receives timely updates and can be managed through a dedicated application, offering a software ecosystem inclusive of a desktop application.
Henrik Gustav Faller, VP of Communications at reMarkable, mentioned that while there are no immediate plans to move the manufacturing of reMarkable 2 to India, they are excited about its potential there. He highlighted the device's long lifespan as a key selling point compared to other tablets, thanks to ongoing software support.

Competing against industry giants like Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, and RealMe, the Tech company intends to focus on making its products digitally and online accessible in India, with potential plans for establishing retail outlets later to allow people experience the devices firsthand. However, reMarkable currently lacks physical service centres in the country, but they do provide support and assistance remotely.
