Reliance Jio Developing Affordable 'Cloud' Laptop at Rs 15,000

Reliance Jio, after the successful launch of JioBook, is reportedly developing a cloud-based laptop to provide an affordable computing experience to Indian users.

A report claims that Jio is going to introduce a new cloud laptop that will cost about Rs 15,000. Jio is working to increase the range of hardware it offers, including reasonably priced laptops and phones. This move is a part of that endeavor. Jio can offer higher performance even with entry-level hardware thanks to the cloud laptop.

An HP Chromebook is being used to test the cloud laptop. It's interesting to note that you don't have to buy a cloud-based device in order to access the cloud PC software on already-owned devices like a desktop computer or smart television.

Unlike conventional computers, the JioCloud laptop doesn't need expensive hardware to function. Instead, it will make use of cloud computing, depending on a dependable internet connection—ideally one with little latency—to carry out computational operations. The main service provider will be Jio Cloud, which will supply processing power and storage on its servers. With this creative solution, the laptop would be much less expensive than it is now—an average of Rs 50,000. It offers a more cost-effective choice and enables fast access to all services for users.

A laptop's price is determined by its hardware, including its chipset, memory, and processing capacity. These devices require more battery power and are more expensive due to their larger capacity. We're stripping everything down, and the laptop's whole processing will take place on the Jio cloud on the back end," a Jio representative stated.

According to the source, Jio is in talks to launch in the Indian market in the next months with several top manufacturers, including HP, Acer, and Lenovo. The business is currently exploring this idea, using an HP Chromebook for the experiment. Regarding cost, Jio anticipates launching its JioCloud laptop in the Indian market for approximately Rs. 15,000.

Jio is investigating a different strategy in the meantime for people who would rather not spend money on devices. Jio may introduce Jio Cloud as a service that can be accessed on a variety of gadgets, such as tablets and smart TVs. It is intended for the service to function on a monthly subscription basis, with particulars.
