The Indian government has installed FM transmitters in 85 districts across 18 states and 2 union territories, providing connectivity to 2 crore people across the country. The new 91 FM transmitters cover aspirational districts and blocks, prioritizing the underprivileged who were previously deprived of this facility.
Prime Minister Modi congratulated All India Radio for this achievement, emphasizing the importance of democratizing technology and ensuring no Indian feels a scarcity of opportunity. The government's policies, such as providing optical fiber to all villages and affordable data costs, have enabled digital entrepreneurship in villages and helped small businesses and street vendors access banking services through UPI. This effort is a step towards connecting distant areas and promoting the diversity and colors of India.
