This month, CERT-In officials will likely meet with Apple's cyber security executives from the US to discuss the show cause notice that was given to the company after multiple opposition MPs received warning notifications on their iPhones.
A few opposition figures stated last month that they got a notice from Apple alerting them to "state-sponsored attackers trying to remotely compromise" their iPhones and that the government was allegedly hacking them.
In this context, Apple received a show-cause warning from CERT-In, a Meity entity.
Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated on Friday that Apple's worldwide cyber security team must respond to the warning.
"They have to come here and answer those questions. Basic issue is ongoing," the minister told reporters.
He claimed that although local Apple representatives had been contacted by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In, they were unable to address the problem.
"It is their cyber security people who have to come and meet CERT-In and they will come all the way from the US," the minister said.
The minister stated he is unsure of the exact dates, but expects the team to see Cert-In officials later this month when questioned about the deadline Apple was given to submit its response.
According to a Meity official, the arrival of the Apple cyber security team this month is subject to the timely acquisition of a visa.
In the meantime, Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge, party leaders Shashi Tharoor, Pawan Khera, K C Venugopal, Supriya Shrinate, T S Singhdeo, and Bhupinder S Hooda, as well as Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav received the warning notification on their iPhones.
Additionally, some other politicians who received this alert are, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, Aam Aadmi Party's Raghav Chadha, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and some aides of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
