Sarfaraz Khan achieved a historic milestone by scoring a half-century in 48 balls on his Test debut for India against England in the third Test at Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot, joining Hardik Pandya as the joint-second fastest Indian to do so.
Ravindra Jadeja apologized to teammate Sarfaraz Khan
Sarfaraz Khan was mistakenly run out by Ravindra Jadeja on the opening day of the third Test match between India and England in Rajkot. A misunderstanding between Sarfaraz and Jadeja, who was rapidly approaching his first half-century, ended Sarfaraz's explosive innings. Ravindra Jadeja apologized to teammate Sarfaraz Khan for accidentally running him out on the first day of the 3rd Test against England at Rajkot. Khan was attempting to prolong his stay in the middle, but a mix-up with Jadeja cut it short. The incident also caused Indian skipper Rohit Sharma to react fumingly in the dressing room, as he was caught by broadcast cameras throwing away his cap after the run-out.
Jadeja apologized to Sarfaraz on Instagram for the confusion after the game. "I feel terrible for Sarfaraz Khan. My call was incorrect. The veteran all-around player posted on Instagram, saying, "Well played."
Sarfaraz had previously discussed the incident during the press conference held after the game, stating that incidents such as these are routine elements of the game. "He arrived at the dressing room and said, 'There was a slight miscommunication, really.'" He replied, "Ye hota rehta hai," to me. As Sarfaraz put it, it's all part of the game.
Anil Kumble presented Sarfaraz with his Test cap
Anil Kumble, ex-India captain and former head coach, believed his bad luck from his Test debut passed on to Sarfaraz when he presented him with his Test cap. Kumble, who was also run out on his debut along with 11 other Indian batters before Sarfaraz, commented on the 77-run partnership between Jadeja and Sarfaraz, feeling that Jadeja became unsure of his gameplan, which could have led to the run-out.
"Yes, Sarfaraz was dominating the partnership, but I believe Jadeja went into a shell, which can lead to a mindset where decision-making is unclear. Maybe that was one of the reasons, and perhaps I passed on my bad luck from my debut run-out to Sarfaraz!" Kumble told JioCinema.
Sarfaraz received a lot of praise from Kumble, who noted that it didn't appear to be his first-ever knock in an international cricket match.
