For the first four weeks of the Six Nations championship, New Zealander Andrew Strawbridge will serve as a consultant for England coach Steve Borthwick. Bringing a plethora of knowledge and experience to the team, Strawbridge was an All Blacks skills consultant. He has previously worked with New Zealand's successful under-20s team and served as a coach at North Harbour and Auckland. In order to guarantee that England possesses the quick ball required for a credible attack, Strawbridge's experience in player development and the contact area will be invaluable.
Incoming assistant coach Felix Jones, who helped South Africa to back-to-back World Cup triumphs, will now be responsible for England's defense. Kevin Sinfield will move to coaching individual skills and the kickers. Richard Wigglesworth remains as attack coach, and Tom Harrison continues to lead the scrum.
Borthwick expressed his excitement to work with Jones, who brings a different dimension to the coaching team with his background in Irish rugby and experience in the southern hemisphere. The addition of Strawbridge and Jones strengthens England's coaching staff and provides a diverse range of expertise.
On February 3, England will play their first away game of the Six Nations against Italy. Then, on March 16, they will play their final match against France in Lyon after hosting Wales, travelling to Scotland, and hosting Ireland. England showed considerable promise in the World Cup, finishing third after placing fourth in the competition the year before. With the new coaches on board, England hopes to capitalise on their recent success and challenge for the Six Nations championship.
