The meaning of Naman is to pay tribute. To pay tribute and honour for the achievements of Indian cricketers in various categories. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) started the Naman Awards in 2006-07 to honour the outstanding performance of Indian cricketers.
The BCCI presents these awards yearly for both male and female cricketers for their excellent performances in international and domestic arenas. The main motto of presenting these awards was to recognise the hard work and dedication of the cricketers, to inspire the upcoming players, and to honour the past legends for their contributions and success stories in Indian cricket history.
