Ishan Kishan Gets Dropped from Playing XI

Ishan Kishan is a name that every Indian cricket fan is well aware of, especially after scoring a double century in December against Bangladesh.

But even his double century couldn't save the young wicket keeper from getting left out of the first ODI against Sri Lanka.

“It is unfortunate that we won’t be able to play Ishan, but it is fair to give Gill that run looking at how things have panned out in the last 8-9 months,” said India captain Rohit Sharma.

Kishan however, has stated that he always saw himself as an ODI batter. "The double century I scored in Bangladesh was very important, because I wanted to prove that my skill set is not just limited to the shorter format and people started reckoning me for both the formats," Kishan said.

A Lot of fans were furious over the decision to leave Ishan out of the playing XI, some even said that Ishan should be playing instead of KL Rahul. Harsha Bhogle, was of this same opinion, he thinks even though KL is a world class cricketer he should be given a break.

This is because KL hasn't been performing well for the past couple months. On the other hand, Ishaan keeps getting better with each match.

Fans don't oppose Shubman gill playing in the XI, many are quite excited to see the young batsman take on his new role.
