India wins the 2nd test against England by 106 runs, levelling the series at 1-1

India won the second Test in Visakhapatnam on Monday by 106 runs, leveling the series after bowling out England for 292 runs on the fourth day of play. England resumed at 194 for six, but lost the last four wickets in the post-lunch session, being bowled out in 69.2 overs, as India levelled the five-match series at 1-1.

Ind vs Eng Day 4

England's fourth day of play began with opener Zack Crawley and nightwatchman Rehan Ahmed taking on Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel. England needed 332 runs to win, but their score of 399 proved to be too much.

India had their first breakthrough of the day when Axar dismissed the lower-order batsman for 23 after he had been thoroughly beaten by Ahmed. But throughout the first session, England maintained their pace, scoring at a rate of about five runs each over. Ollie Pope got off to a fast start in his innings, smashing Axar Patel for a boundary and hitting at a pace above 100 all the way through.

With two significant wickets of, Jonny Bairstow and well-positioned Zack Crawley just before lunch, India turned the tide of the match, forcing two new batsmen to enter the crease in the day's second session. Foakes and Tom Hartley put up an over-50-run stand to give England a glimmer of hope, but the English batting crumbled swiftly after Ben Foakes' wicket.

India scored 396 and 255 in their two innings, while England were bowled for 253 in their first innings.

Happy Skipper, Happy team

Unlike the first Test, the young Indian side did not appear complacent this time, fighting till the final wicket to win the game. Skipper Rohit Sharma was pleased with the Indian squad's effort, but he identified several batting concerns.

"(I am) very proud of such a young squad, to come up against a team like that. A lot of the guys are quite young in terms of playing this form of the game," Rohit Sharma said in a post-match presentation.

India's premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah was spectacular in the second Test match in Vizag, as he single-handedly decimated England's batting in the first innings. Jasprit Bumrah became the fastest pacer to reach 150 wickets in Test cricket with a fantastic 6/45 performance.

The Bumrah magic in Vizag

"He is a champion player for us (Bumrah). When you win a game like that, you have to look at the overall performance as well. He looks like a good player and understands his game really well. Long way to go for him, but he has got a lot to offer for our team. Hope he stays humble," Rohit said in a post-match presentation.

The third Test between the two teams will now take place in Rajkot, and considering the outcomes of the previous two games, it should be another thrilling battle.
