Dubai is all set to host the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan on October 6 following the ICC's announcement of the updated schedule for the Women's T20 World Cup. The 18-day tournament's final will take place in Dubai on October 20.
Earlier the mega clash was organized in Bangladesh, however due to the increasing political unrest, it was no longer feasible, so it was moved to the United Arab Emirates.
India’s Schedule for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024
Over the course of eighteen exciting days, ten teams will compete in 23 matches across two UAE locations: the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Group Composition
Group A consists of six-time champion Australia, as well as India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka while Group B consists of Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland. Each team will play four group matches, which will be divided between the two venues.
Opening Matches and Key Fixtures
The opening match of the tournament in Sharjah will see Bangladesh against Scotland, and the Asia Cup winners Sri Lanka will play Pakistan next. The first match of the T20 World Cup will be played on October 4 in Dubai, between South Africa and the West Indies.
Australia, the current champions and most successful team in T20 World Cup history, will take on Sri Lanka in the opening match on October 5 in Sharjah. In the meantime, on October 6, Dubai will host the much anticipated encounter between India and Pakistan.
Into the Semi-Finals
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The second-placed team from each group will face the top team from the opposite group. Semi-final 1 will be held in Dubai on October 17, while Semi-final 2 will take place in Sharjah on October 18. If India qualifies, they will play in the first semi-final. Both semi-finals and the final will have a reserve day scheduled to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Final Showdown at Dubai
The grand finale of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup will be held on October 20 at the International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, where the winners of the tournament will be crowned.
Through the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier, which took place in Abu Dhabi earlier this year, Scotland and Sri Lanka were able to make it to the tournament. Prior to the competition, ten warm-up matches will take place from September 28 to October 1.
To maintain its hosting rights the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will partner with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) . It will also ensure that the event gets completed successfully.

Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Yastika Bhatia (wicketkeeper), Pooja Vastrakar, Renuka Singh Thakur,Arundhati Reddy, Dayalan Hemalatha, Radha Yadav,Asha Sobhana, Shreyanka Patil and S. Sajeevan.
Travelling reserves: Tanuja Kanwer, Uma Chetry,and Saima Thakor
Non-travelling reserves: Raghvi Bist and Priya Mishra
Harmanpreet Kaur to lead the 15-member group
Harmanpreet will be leading the 15 member group assisted by vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, who is expected to open the batting with Shafali Verma. Dayalan Hemalatha is also a top-order option in the squad. Apart from them, the batting line includes Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and Richa Ghosh.
Bowling Strengths and All-Round Talent - Along with Yastika Bhatia, Richa is the team's designated keeper. The bowling options include Renuka Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Asha Sobhana, Sajana Sajeevan, and Shreyanka Patil. Harmanpreet, Sajana, Sobhana, and Deepti are among the all-round players that India has in their lineup.
Injury Concerns and Reserve Players - Yastika and Shreyanka's selection is dependent on their respective levels of fitness, as both players have been dealing with injuries for the last few months. Three traveling reserves will represent India at the event in the United Arab Emirates.
