According to reports from ESPNCricinfo, Hardik Pandya, the allrounder from India, will be absent from two upcoming World Cup matches against Sri Lanka and South Africa due to an ankle injury he sustained during a match against Bangladesh. Pandya has not participated in any matches since October 19
He sustained an injury during a cricket match against Bangladesh in Pune, where it seemed that he twisted his ankle while attempting to prevent a shot with his right foot during his follow-through. Subsequently, he did not participate in the remainder of the match and underwent scans. As a result of the injury, Pandya was unable to play in India's subsequent match against New Zealand in Dharamshala. Although it was anticipated that the all-rounder would rejoin the team directly in Lucknow for the game against England on October 29, he was compelled to miss that match as well due to a ligament injury.
According to ESPNCricinfo, the all-rounder will be absent for the upcoming two matches against Sri Lanka and South Africa. These matches are scheduled to take place on November 2 in Mumbai and on November 5 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata respectively. Hardik Pandya has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru since then. Given the impressive performance of Mohammed Shami, who has taken nine wickets in just two matches, India is unlikely to rush Pandya's return. Additionally, Suryakumar Yadav, who joined the playing XI following Pandya's injury, showcased a mature innings of 49 runs against England when India faced a challenging situation.
