Indian opener Shubman Gill is currently receiving treatment at a Chennai hospital due to a noticeable decrease in platelet count caused by dengue. This circumstance gives rise to concerns regarding his potential involvement in the eagerly awaited World Cup 2023 game against Pakistan, which is set to take place on October 14 in Ahmedabad.

Gill's absence from India's first ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Australia, held in Chennai, was due to his battle with dengue. Additionally, he will not be able to participate in the upcoming game against Afghanistan, scheduled for October 11 in Delhi. After the match against Australia, Gill received continuous medical care in Chennai.

The talented batsman unfortunately contracted dengue shortly after arriving in Chennai and has been unwell for nearly a week. The confirmation that he won't be participating in the Afghanistan match also indicates that he is probably going to be absent from the game against Pakistan.

Based on information from a reliable source at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it has been reported that Gill has been receiving necessary medical care at the team's Chennai hotel. It was deemed necessary to admit him to the hospital when his platelet count decreased to 70,000. It is generally recommended for dengue patients to be hospitalized when their platelet count falls below 100,000.

According to the source, once Gill's platelet count surpasses the 100,000 milestone, he will be on the path to recovery and will be able to leave the hospital.
