Argentina faced the defending champions France in the FIFA World Cup final, which is also regarded as the "Planets Ultimate Game." It seemed like Messi's men were going to have an easy win as they walked over the French in the second half, leading 2-0 over them thanks to two goals, the first of which was scored by Lionel Messi in the 23rd minute via a penalty kick that was given to Argentina due to a foul committed by the French defence line. The goal from the penalty spot also put Leo Messi in position to win the Golden Boot. Later on, the second goal came soon after the first one in the 36th minute as Angel Di Maria scored a beautiful goal after being assisted by A. The Argentina fans were jumping up and down in celebration and joy as it seemed that they had secured the ultimate prize in the first half of the FIFA World Cup final. The Argentina team walked into the tunnel all smiles, as it seemed like the game was almost certainly over. However, no one in the world could predict that it was just the calm before the storm.

In the 80th minute of the game, the French wonderkid Kylian Mbappe, who had fallen behind Messi in the race for the Golden Boot after the penalty goal, popped right back up as he scored a beautiful penalty that was awarded to France in the 80th minute. The French fans had a small bit of hope left.

The nerves in the stadium were on another level as Mbappe put the penalty in the back of the net, and there was a roar around the stadium from the French end of the supporters as Kylian Mbappe had again taken the lead for the golden boot, ensuring the youngster would finish the tournament as the top scorer.

The penalty shootouts were where it all went downhill for France as Mbappe scored his penalty but didn't get any support from his teammates as Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved all the remainder of France's penalties as the younger players of Argentina, such as Paulo Dybala, scored their penalties along with Lionel Messi scoring his to make Argentina World Champions.
