Cristiano Ronaldo Scores Twice while Breaking Record for Most International Appearances

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in his 197th cap for Portugal in a 4-0 victory over Liechtenstein to set a new record with the most international appearances. Early in the second half, he scored his first goal of the game from the penalty spot to make the score 3-0 in favor of Portugal.

With 120 of his 712 goals coming from Portugal, the football icon has now scored 712 goals for club and country.

In addition, he is the only player in the history of men's international football to ever score 100 goals in a tournament. 

In order to advance to the competition next summer, they will next play Luxembourg.

The proficient striker broke the previous mark held by Kuwaiti striker Bader Al-Mutawa, who played 196 times and currently has 120 goals in international competition.
