Asian Champions Trophy 2023: India soars to the top with 5-0 win over Malaysia

India reclaimed the top spot in the Men's Asian Champions Trophy by defeating Malaysia 5-0 in their third match. Earlier, they were in the top position after a great win against China (7-2), but they slipped down after a draw with Japan. Now, India is back on top after their impressive victory over Malaysia. The undefeated team India defeated the top-ranked Malaysia with a score of 5-0. India was in control of the game from the start to the end and managed to break Malaysia's defense in the 15th minute, scoring their first goal by local player Karthi Selvam.India also scored two penalty corner (PC) goals against Malaysia. Hardik Singh and Harmanpreet Singh's successful conversion of the PCs contributed to India securing a 3-0 lead.

Later, Gurjant Singh and Jugraj's goals further strengthened India's position, making them unbeatable in the match.India is currently leading the Asian Champions Trophy points table with 7 points, while Malaysia holds the second position with 6 points. India will be competing against South Korea in its fourth match on 7th August 2023 at 8.30 pm IST, As of now, South Korea holds the number 3 position in the points table. Both India and South Korea are the only teams in the tournament that have not been defeated yet. Fans are eagerly anticipating an exciting showdown between three-time champions India and defending champions South Korea.The Asian Champions Trophy Hockey 2023 is being organized in a round-robin format, where the top six ranked teams from Asia compete against each other. The teams placed in the last two spots will contend for the fifth or sixth position. The top four teams will qualify for the Semi-Finals, scheduled for 11th August. The third-place playoff and the final match will take place on 12th August.
