Jeswin Aldrin of India placed eleventh in the men's long jump final on Thursday at the current 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The 21-year-old's best attempt was 7.77m, however, he was unable to place in the top eight.
Aldrin fouled his first two attempts in the final after reaching the last qualifying position in position 12 with a best of 8m.
The athlete, who was born in Tamil Nadu, then produced 7.77m, which was his final attempt in the race. This was a far cry from his personal best of 8.42m, the world record for 2023 till Wayne Pinnock passed it in the qualification round.
Jeswin Aldrin had to clear 7.95 meters or more on his third attempt to stay in the race since USA's Williams had placed eighth after three attempts with a best effort of 7.94 meters. Aldrin, who appeared a little unsteady throughout his run-up, only succeeded in reaching 7.77m.
With an excellent 8.42m leap at the India Open competition earlier in March 2023, Aldrin came into the contest as the season's global leader.
After the 7.66m he achieved at the Venizelia - Chania International Meeting, Elena Venizelou National Stadium, Chania in May, Jeswin Aldrin's 7.77m mark was his second-lowest performance of the year.
It should be noted that Jeswin qualified for the final in position 12 with a best attempt of 8m, but he was unable to match that performance in the final.
Murali Sreeshankar of India, who placed first at the Paris Diamond League in July, was unable to advance to the final after managing just 7.74 and placing 22nd overall.
