Summer solstice illuminates the skies as the Sun reaches its highest point on June 21

June 21 is a very significant day as it has led to various changes in nature. Today, the sun will be at the highest position in the sky, at the north pole. This celestial event generally occurs on 21st or 22nd June of each year. This year, today, Wednesday, is the treat for all astronauts and researchers. 

Our earth's axis is slightly tilted. On this day, this axial tilt is inclined at a small angle towards the sun, creating the long day and short night of the year. As seasons start changing from this day, the Sun Solstice is considered to be one of the important days in many societies. Because different groups have different cultural activities and cultural value for this day. 

In India, this season changed, after 21 st June is the start of many agricultural activities at the farm. In Sweden, this day is considered as a cherished holiday, while in Iceland there is 'Midnight Sun Festival' because some parts of the country observe 24 hours of sunlight.

Besides this, scientifically, this day is important as researchers can observe and understand various changes happening on Earth due to sunlight.
