Ending Their 5 Month Mission- Four Astronauts Bring SpaceX Back to Earth

During a brief SpaceX ride home, four space station astronauts arrived back on Earth late on Saturday. Just off the Florida coast, close to Tampa, their capsule splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico.

The US-Russian-Japanese crew arrived in October of last year and spent five months there. The astronauts had to avoid space waste in addition to two Russian capsules that were docked at the orbiting outpost and urgent delivery of a replacement vessel for the station's other crew members.

NASA’s Nicole Mann, the first Native American woman to travel to space, led the astronauts to check out of the station early on Saturday morning.

Mann radioed moments after splashdown, "That was one heck of a ride, we’re happy to be home."
