Chandrayaan Rover detects Oxygen, Sulfur, Calcium & Iron in the first week of being on the moon

Chandrayaan Rover landed on the moon on August 23rd and within the first few days the rover is said to have discovered many precious and unique elements on the moon.

As the rover becomes the first such rover to ever land on the south pole of the moon its 

discoveries and information is all new and never seen before. 

Anil Bhardwaj, director of the Physical Research Laboratory of Isro’s labs said, “We are the first country to have landed on the south polar region of the moon and we have an advantage. A lot of our findings will be critical because we will be getting that information for the first time. We are currently focusing on collecting maximum data before the lunar sunset,”

ISRO has said that Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) which is onboard the Chandrayaan-3 rover has helped breakdown and identify elements like aluminum (Al), calcium (Ca), iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), titanium (Ti), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), and oxygen (O).
