Trump wins Iowa, first Republican contest for US Presidential Election
Donald Trump won the Iowa caucuses on Monday, the first vote in the US presidential race, securing his position as the presumptive Republican standard-bearer to face President Joe Biden in November.
The former president has led polls for more than a year, but the Iowa contest provided the clearest indication yet of whether he can turn his advantage into a stunning White House return. Finally, major US networks projected the winner in less than half an hour after polls opened, with Trump receiving nearly three-quarters of the early vote.
Trump's legal troubles, including multiple civil and criminal trials in multiple jurisdictions, may have weakened his support.
