In an election with no other candidates, nearly 3,000 members of China's rubber-stamp parliament, the National People's Congress (NPC), voted unanimously for the 69-year-old Xi in the Great Hall of the People.

The new premier of China will address his annual press conference on the last day of this year's annual NPC session. The representatives also approved the proposal for the reorganization of the State Council. It is the top executive body of the Chinese government. A draft plan was released this week. It is believed that the ruling Communist Party will be going to increase the control of the government in the coming days.
