The government has announced a special 5-day parliamentary session on account of 75 years of the parliament.
What will the 5-day session consist of?
The first day will comprise of "Discussion on 'Parliamentary Journey of 75 years starting from Samvidhan Sabha - Achievements, Experiences, Memories and Learnings'"
The session will also include the consideration and possible appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners.
Apart from this, the session will also hold discussions on ‘The Advocates (Amendment) Bill’ - 2023, ‘The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill’ - 2023, and ‘The Post Office Bill’ - 2023
When will The session start and end?
The special parliamentary session will begin on the 18th of September and end on the 22nd.
How will the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners be chosen?
According to the panel formed by the Supreme Court in March, the three-member panel selected to choose the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners comprises of the PM of India, the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, and the Chief Justice of India
