Vygr Maharashtra: Maha Political Drama continues as NCP seeks disqualification of Ajit Pawar & 8 others

Sunday, 2 July was a very special episode of Maharashtra politics. This melodrama in Maharashtra politics is really very interesting but at the same time, receiving furious comments from citizens of Maharashtra. We all know, Maharashtra has got another new Deputy CM, Ajit Pawar. He took oath as Deputy Chief Minister on 2 July with 8 other MLAs from the National Congress Party.

Ajit Pawar taking oath

Ajit Pawar joining the BJP-Shivsena (Shinde group) alliance is indeed a surprise for everyone, including Sharad Pawar. Exactly after a year to he rebels led by the Shinde group in Shivsena, Ajit Pawar did same with NCP. BJP somehow succeeded in making partition in both the parties, is what citizens of Maharashtra are thinking right now.

Ajit Pawar claimed the support of 40 MLAs but in reality only 17 MLAs were present yesterday for the oath ceremony. Right after Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s move, Jitendra Avhad became the leader of the opposition. HE sent a disqualification petition against Ajit Pawar and 8 other MLAs including Chhagan Bhujabal, Dilip Walse Patil and Dhananjay Mund. Soon, Maharashtra assembly speaker Rahul Narvekar will take a decision over this disqualification process.

But there will be another big argument over the ‘real NCP’.  As Sharad Pawar established this party, we all know that originally it belonged to Sharad Pawar, but what if more than half of MLAs are with Ajit Pawar? Ajit Pawar will continue using this party’s name and symbol in the election. He himself cleared it yesterday.

About all these dramas, Sharad Pawar gave a very neutral reaction. He said that all this stuff is not new to him and now he is used to it. But he expressed his belief that with people’s support everything would be fine.

This heroic entry of Ajit Pawar as Deputy CM in the BJP-Shivsen alliance may prove harmful for Shinde group. This was the period when the government was about to expand the ministry. But now the distribution of positions will be considered by all three parties. There might be quarrels over the seats of state cabinet between ruling party alliances.
