The all-important G20 Summit sees 1.3 lac Armed Forces personnel deployed

India is gearing up to hold a vast G20 conference in New Delhi, with an extraordinary deployment of around 130,000 law enforcement personnel. This event, scheduled for September 9, will be attended by a prominent guest list which includes US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Saudi Arabia's Mohammed Bin Salman. According to New Delhi and Beijing reports, Chinese President Xi Jinping is anticipated to be unavailable.

Leaders from Japan, Australia, France, and Germany are slated to attend as well. Dealing with criticism for the Ukraine war, Russian President Vladimir Putin has selected Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as his representative. There will also be delegations from important international organizations which include the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, World Trade Organization, and World Health Organization. The revamped Pragati Maidan in the heart of one of the world's most populated cities serves as the location for this event. Special commissioners from the Delhi Police, including Dependra Pathak and Ranvir Singh Krishnia, charge with overseeing security preparations.

Access to the city will be restricted, and certain services, such as schools, government offices, and businesses, are scheduled to close for three days.

In partnership with the Delhi Police and paramilitary forces, the Indian Air Force plans to create comprehensive aerospace defence measures, including anti-drone equipment. Firefighters will be on standby additionally. Security has been tightened up at important hotels, including the ITC Maurya, where President Biden will stay. Prime Minister Modi has transformed India's year-long G20 chairmanship into a national event, with meetings carried out across the country. The capital has recently seen significant G20 advertising, as well as infrastructure enhancements like new fountains and landscape design in traffic circles. In July, Modi unveiled a $300 million state-of-the-art facility capable of entertaining over 3,000 people. For leader accessibility, the government has also procured 20 bullet-proof limousines.

Specially trained commandos from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) paramilitary unit will protect dignitaries' spouses. While India has advised nations to be reasonable in their security measures, no specific boundaries on the amount of force or vehicles they bring have been implemented.
