Ahead of the official start of the special session on Monday evening, the Centre will host an all-party meeting, according to the government's stated preliminary agenda for the proceedings. The agenda for the coming week is likely to be discussed during the meeting.
On September 19, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the official move from the old to the new Parliament building will take place during the special session. On September 22, the Special Session will come to its conclusion.
In addition to discussing the 75-year history of Parliament, the government's legislative agenda for the session includes four bills, one of which is to regulate the appointment, terms of service, and tenure of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners.
'The Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2023' and 'The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023', which were earlier approved by the Rajya Sabha on August 3, 2023, are also included in the list of bills.
While the Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023 repeal the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867, the Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2023 amends the Advocates Act, 1961.
