Sharad Pawar, a well-known politician in Maharashtra, surprised many by resigning as the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), a political party he founded over two decades ago. During the launch of his autobiography, he announced that he would not contest elections anymore and would focus on issues related to the state and the country. He also formed a committee of senior party leaders to chart the party's future course of action. Despite stepping down as president, Pawar emphasized that he was not retiring from public life. His decision to step down comes amid speculation about his nephew, former Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar, and his future political moves, with some suggesting that he might join forces with the BJP. Pawar has been a prominent figure in Indian politics for more than 55 years, serving in various roles such as MP, MLA, Union minister, and the youngest Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
