With just one day left before the deadline, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made the crucial decision to retain his Raebareli constituency instead of Wayanad. The party has announced that Priyanka Gandhi will be the candidate for Wayanad in the upcoming elections. The decision was made at a meeting held at Congress Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in New Delhi.
"I have an emotional relationship with the people of both Raebareli and Wayanad. I had a fantastic experience representing the people of Wayanad in Parliament for the past five years. I want everyone to know that Priyanka will contest the election from Wayanad. She will win the elections. I will also frequent the constituency. My doors are always open for the people of Wayanad," Rahul Gandhi said.
I have an emotional relationship with Raebareli and the people of Wayanad.
In the last 5 years, the people of Wayanad stood with me and gave me energy to fight in a very difficult time.
I will stand by the commitments that we've made. We will deliver on those commitments.

Priyanka Gandhi expressed her happiness at being able to represent Wayanad and assured that she would continue the work in Raebareli and Amethi. The party is expected to officially declare their decision today or inform the Election Commission by the Tuesday deadline.
Raebareli is a prestigious seat and a stronghold for the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee had urged Rahul to retain the seat. Rahul Gandhi had won both Raebareli and Wayanad in the previous elections by a huge margin.
Following the announcement of the Lok Sabha poll results on June 4, the deadline for choosing one seat ends on Tuesday. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal participated in the meeting to make the final decision. Raebareli and Wayanad residents can expect strong representation in Parliament, with both siblings holding seats in the Lok Sabha.
