“In dilemma whether to Choose Wayanad or Raebareli”

In 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi secured a victory in from both Raebreli constituency in UP, where he defeated BJP candidate Smriti Irani, and Wayanad Constituency in Kerala, defeating Annie Raja.

Sharing his dilemma to the people, whether to be a Member of Parliament of Wayanad or Raebareli, he assured, “what I will commit to you is that both Wayanad and Rae Bareli will be happy with my decision." There has been speculation that Rahul Gandhi will relinquish his Wayanad Seat, also hinted by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief K Sudhakaran.

“My God is People of India”

PM Modi during his election campaign, said that he ‘was not biological’ and God takes all his decision. Rahul Gandhi taking a dig at this, said, “It's much simpler. My God is the poor people of India. My God is the people of Wayanad. For me, it's easy. I just talk to the people, and my God tells me what to do”, he added. Mocking

Gandhi added, "He (Modi) has a strange god. He makes him (Modi) take all the decisions in favour of Adani and Ambani. Unfortunately, unlike him, I am not guided by god. I am a human being."

“Fight for Constitution”

Rahul Gandhi also stated that the fight in this election was about the Constitution.

He explained that on one side, millions of Indians were expressing their desire to preserve their tradition, language, culture, and history, and to shape their own future.

On the other side, the Prime Minister and Mr. Amit Shah were saying 'No.' They insisted that if they want the people of Kerala to speak Hindi, then they will speak Hindi, and if they want Onam to be celebrated, then only Onam will be celebrated.

“We are alternative Vision for India”

Gandhi stated that as a vibrant and strong opposition, we ensure to pressure governments to act on the INDIA alliance’s vision.

"Our role as the opposition will continue from our perspective. We have proposed an alternative vision for the people of India, one that is pro-poor, pro-farmer, and compassionate,” he said.

“We will fight for it. We are dedicated to making India a fairer and more productive society," he added.

Concluding his public meet, he expressed gratitude to the people of Wayanad for their love and support, thanking them for re-electing him to the Lok Sabha for a second term. "We will honour our commitments," he stated, adding, "I look forward to seeing you soon."
