In a bizarre move, a prominent leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has taken legal action against Congress stalwart Rahul Gandhi. This comes in response to Gandhi's act of presenting a canine companion named 'Noorie' to his mother, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, a gesture that the AIMIM leader contends has wounded his religious sensibilities.
Mohammad Farhan, the AIMIM luminary, asserts that the appellation 'Noorie' holds profound significance within the context of Islam, even finding mention within the sacred Quran. The matter has since been brought before the local judiciary, as confirmed by the office of the judicial magistrate.
Representing Farhan, lawyer Mohammad Ali revealed that they approached the court of Judicial Magistrate Aviral Singh on Monday, seeking to initiate legal proceedings against Rahul Gandhi under the ambit of IPC Section 295 A, which pertains to causing offense to religious sentiments.
Ali further disclosed that Farhan's awareness of the dog's name stemmed from a variety of sources including newspapers, Rahul Gandhi's official Facebook page, and YouTube channel. Despite previous entreaties through media outlets for Gandhi to reconsider the canine's name and issue a public apology, the Congress leader remained unmoved by the plea.
The court has slated Farhan to record his statement on November 8. Following a thorough review of the complaint, the court may subsequently summon Rahul Gandhi for further proceedings, as indicated by the attorney.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had shared a heartwarming video chronicling his journey to Goa, where he encountered a local family and acquired the canine companion, Noorie. Transporting the furry addition to his New Delhi residence, Gandhi proceeded to present the beloved gift to his mother, Sonia Gandhi.
In the accompanying video, Gandhi expressed, "I'd like you all to meet the newest and the cutest member of our family -- our li'l pup, Noorie. She flew in from Goa straight into our arms, and has become the light of our lives. Unconditional love and uncompromising loyalty -- there is so much this beautiful animal can teach us!" This heartwarming gesture, however, has now become the center of a legal dispute, sparking a fervent debate over matters of faith and sentiment.
