Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first phase of YashoBhoomi, a state-of-the-art convention and expo centre in Dwarka, Delhi. The inauguration will also include the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line. The project is part of Modi's vision to create world-class infrastructure for hosting meetings, conferences, and exhibitions in India.
YashoBhoomi covers a total project area of over 8.9 lakh sq m and has a built-up area of more than 1.8 lakh sq m. It will be listed among the world's largest MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) facilities. The convention centre spans over 73,000 sq m and includes 15 convention rooms, a main auditorium, a grand ballroom, and 13 meeting rooms with a total capacity of 11,000 delegates.
The main auditorium has a seating capacity of around 6,000 guests and features an innovative automated seating system that can be adjusted for different seating configurations. The grand ballroom can host around 2,500 guests and has a unique petal ceiling. The convention centre also offers one of the largest exhibition halls in the world.
YashoBhoomi showcases elements inspired by Indian culture, such as terrazzo floors with brass inlay representing rangoli patterns and lit-up patterned walls. It also prioritises sustainability, with features like a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system with 100% reuse, rainwater harvesting, and rooftop solar panels. The campus has received Green Cities Platinum certification from the Indian Green Building Council.
The inauguration of YashoBhoomi is expected to be a significant boost to India's efforts to attract international conferences and meetings. The facility is designed to draw delegates from around the world and provide a sought-after destination for such events.
In addition to the inauguration of YashoBhoomi, Prime Minister Modi is celebrating his 73rd birthday, and the Bharatiya Janata Party has planned various functions and programmes to mark the occasion. The inauguration and birthday celebrations highlight the government's focus on infrastructure development and creating world-class facilities in India.
