Loksabha speaker Om Birla accepted the no confidence motion filed by opposition alliance INDIA against Modi government today July 26. Congress Gogoi today before 10 am submitted the notice for no confidence motion in the lower house of parliament. The speaker told that he would discuss with parties' leaders and decide a date accordingly.
INDIA the opposition alliance very well knows that, BJP government will definitely secure the majority in the house. But oppositions have taken this move to make PM Modi speak over Manipur state violence. Oppositions are demanding PM Modi to address the parliament over the ongoing clashes of Manipur. Opposition MP's claim in submitting no confidence motion is to break the silence of PM Modi in the fight between Meitei and the Kuki community.
This is the second time Modi government has faced no confidence motion since 2014.
To submit the no confidence motion, the opposition party needs to have the support of at least 50 lawmakers. Within 10 days speaker set a date for discussion and if the government fails to prove the majority and fails to defend the themselves, then government has to resign.
Now there are clear signs that the government will definitely not lose the majority, but PM has to speak to defend the government, according to opposition's claim.
