N Chandrababu Naidu, leading the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party-Janasena alliance, was sworn in as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on Wednesday. Twenty-four cabinet ministers also took the oath, with one position remaining vacant. The ceremony took place at Kesarapalli IT Park near Vijayawada.
Cabinet Formation
The Andhra Pradesh assembly, with 175 seats, allows for a cabinet of 26 ministers, including the CM. Naidu met Governor S Abdul Nazeer at the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, accompanied by Janasena Party chief Pawan Kalyan and BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari, to stake his claim to form the government.
Naidu's Political Journey
Naidu first served as the chief minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh from 2014 to 2019. He lost the 2019 elections but returned to power in 2024 after a significant victory, securing 164 of the 175 assembly seats and 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats. This marks Naidu's fourth term as Andhra Pradesh's chief minister. He first served from 1995 to 2004, and again from 2014 to 2019.
