Lok Sabha Election Results Live updates 2024: NDA most likely to form Government, third time in a row

After a long six-week, seven-phase voting period, votes for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 are being tabulated, and the results will be announced today. Amid intense security, the vote counting has begun. Voting for 543 Lok Sabha seats, determining who gets to send one representative to the Lower House of Parliament, took place between April 19 and June 1. To create a government, a party or coalition must hold a majority of 272 seats. This year, The Lok Sabha election was the second-longest since the country's inaugural poll in 1951–1952.

As the day of vote counting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections comes to an end, it appears like the NDA will form a coalition government yet again. Currently ahead in 77 seats, the BJP secured 163 seats as of 9:00 p.m. on June 4. To establish a government, the Narendra Modi-led ruling party will probably need the support of TDP and JD(U) rather than a simple majority in the 543-member Lok Sabha. In the meantime, the Samajwadi Party, JD(S), AAP, Trinamool Congress, and Congress won 2, 16, 3, and 24 seats correspondingly, while the Congress won 66 seats and is now leading in 33. After Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party reduced the size of the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh, the politician's stock increased significantly.  The results reaffirm the power of Indian citizens in shaping their government, as they have elected the NDA for a third consecutive term. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his gratitude in a tweet, thanking everyone for their continued support.
