This incident occurred shortly after the recent defeat of BRS in the Telangana legislative assembly election. The Indian National Congress, led by A Revanth Reddy, emerged victorious with 64 seats, leaving BRS with 39. Although Rao secured a win as an MLA from the Gajwel Assembly constituency, he faced defeat in Kamarreddy, contesting from two constituencies.

In the aftermath of this electoral setback, A Revanth Reddy assumed the position of Chief Minister, leading to Rao and his family vacating the Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the Chief Minister in Hyderabad. Rao had been spending most of his time at his farmhouse even before the elections.

In the days preceding the incident, Rao had been engaging in meetings with numerous BRS activists and several MLAs at his farmhouse.

Upon receiving news of Rao's hospitalization, BRS MLAs from various districts are en route to Hyderabad to visit him. Former ministers K T Rama Rao, Harish Rao, and MLC Kavitha are actively overseeing K Chandrashekar Rao's health status and maintaining regular contact with the medical team responsible for his care.
