Karni Chief Shooting Update - Delhi Police Arrest 2 Shooters and 1 Associate in Chandigarh

In a late-night joint operation, the Delhi Crime Branch and Rajasthan Police have arrested two shooters and an associate involved in the murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. The shooters, identified as Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, along with their associate Udham, were apprehended in Chandigarh. Officials are still verifying Udham's involvement in the murder, though.

After the murder, the accused hid their weapons and fled from Rajasthan to Hisar in Haryana. From there, they travelled to Manali, in Himachal Pradesh, before returning to Chandigarh, where they were eventually arrested. The police were able to trace their location through their mobile phones.

Dinesh MN, the head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the murder, confirmed the operation and stated that the arrests would be registered on Sunday. The shooters will be produced before the court on Monday after their interrogation.

The murder of Gogamedi took place on November 5, when unidentified assailants entered his house in Jaipur and shot him. Gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder in a social media post. The police revealed that the shooters were in contact with Godara's close aides, Virendra Chahan and Danaram, who allegedly instructed them to carry out the killing.

In addition to the recent arrests, the Jaipur Police also announced the apprehension of another man, Ramveer Jat, who was identified as one of the conspirators in the murder. Jat had reportedly facilitated Fauji's preparations in Jaipur prior to the killing.

The murder, captured on CCTV, showed two men firing multiple shots at Gogamedi while another stood at the door. Gogamedi collapsed from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. During the exchange of fire with the police, one of the assailants, Naveen Shekhawat, was also killed at the scene.

The murder sparked widespread protests in Rajasthan, with Gogamedi's supporters taking to the streets. A bandh was observed on November 26. In order to look into the murder, which took place during a state-wide regime change after the Assembly election, the Rajasthan Police established an SIT under the direction of Dinesh MN.
