On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Mukesh Sahani, the leader of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), father, Jitan Sahani, were found brutally murdered at their ancestral home in the Darbhanga district of Bihar. Jitan Sahani's disfigured body was discovered on his bed, his stomach and chest covered in cuts and multiple stab wounds.
A police team was present at the Sahanis' residence, according to senior police officer Jagannath Reddy, who confirmed the incident. Locals are terrified after the terrifying incident. After being placed under arrest, two suspects will now be questioned.

Jitan Sahani lived in the family's ancestral brick house in the Biraul area, despite his son Mukesh Sahani's larger residence just across the road. Reports suggest he was deeply attached to the ancestral home.
To look into the crime, a three-person Special Investigation Team has been assembled. Officer Reddy stated, "It's possible that a theft attempt turned deadly, or it could be the product of animosity." We are examining every possibility." As part of their investigation, police are going through the local CCTV footage.
The Vikassheel Insaan Party, led by former Bihar government minister Mukesh Sahani, enjoys substantial support from the OBC community. Currently, VIP is part of the INDIA Opposition bloc along with the Congress and the RJD.
The incident has drawn strong reactions from various political parties. The main opposition RJD criticised the Nitish Kumar government, with spokesperson Shakti Yadav saying, "What is happening in Bihar? Not a day goes by without news of a murder. A mindless government is in power. The system has collapsed."

Samrat Choudhary, a BJP leader and deputy chief minister, called the incident "unfortunate" and promised the state government would take strict measures. Chirag Paswan, a union minister and leader of the LJP (Ramvilas), also denounced the killing and sent his sympathies to Mukesh Sahani and his family.
