Fractured Celebrations - TMC, CPI, AAP will skip Parliament inauguration, others to reconsider too

Opposition parties including the Tiranamool Congress and the Communist Party of India showed red signals at the inauguration ceremony of the Parliamentary building. Inauguration of the new building of Parliament is on 28th May. Soft invitations have been sent to all the ministers and it is decided that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the building. But opposition party leaders asked the question, "why not President Droupadi Murmu is inaugurating the new Parliamentary building?" Not inviting her for inauguration is insult of the President and her humble background.

PM Modi has already bypassed her on the foundation stone of a building and now he is doing the same. The president is said to be the first citizen of a country and section 79 states that “Parliament of union should consist of the President and two houses.” A Parliamentary building is not just a building but a temple of democracy. Almost everyone is questioning him for not letting the President inaugurate the new Parliamentary building.

To counter this argument, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri gave references to then PM Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi inaugurated a Parliamentary annex and library. But anyway, all opposition members have taken the decision that they won’t be attending the inauguration function on 28th May. A joint statement of united boycott of the event will soon be issued by leaders.
