This comes just a few days after Soren was given bail in a case involving money laundering that is connected to land fraud. The swift modifications happened just hours after Hemant was designated as the legislature wing leader of the JMM-led alliance by its leaders and MLAs during a meeting. According to sources, following a smooth handover of power, Hemant would now try to fulfil the remaining promises that will make up his candidacy in the Assembly elections that are scheduled for November of this year.

Hemant was compelled to resign as the Chief Minister and choose Champai to succeed him after being arrested by the ED for five months in connection with an alleged land scam case. The Jharkhand High Court granted him bail on June 28 after finding that there were "reasons to believe that he was not guilty of the offence." He is expected to emphasize during his Assembly campaign trail how he was made to resign from his position as chief minister because of being imprisoned for five months based on a "false case," according to JMM officials.
