The Congress party has appointed former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as the Senior Observer to coordinate the ongoing 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' and other party activities in Bihar.
Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress chief, has assigned Mr. Baghel the role of senior observer to oversee party activities in Bihar, according to a statement by the party's general secretary organisation, K.C. Venugopal.
Rahul Gandhi’s The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra commenced from Manipur's Imphal on January 14, covering northeastern states and is set to conclude in Maharashtra. The yatra is currently on a two-day break from 26 January to 27 January, set to resume from West Bengal's Jalpaiguri.
The yatra, covering over 6,700 km in 66 days across 15 states, is expected to enter Bihar on January 29. the journey is set to return to West Bengal on January 31, passing through Malda.
Bhupesh Baghel's appointment is significant amid growing speculation regarding Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's potential return to the BJP-led NDA.
Further this decision aligns with the Congress' strategy to strengthen its presence in Bihar and ensure effective coordination during the yatra.
