Bommai: Karnataka to stop Maha Health Insurance Scheme in 865 border villages

On Wednesday, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai, stated that his administration is preparing to take action to prevent the Maharashtra government from introducing its health insurance program in 865 border villages that Maharashtra is trying to claim. The Maharashtra government, led by Eknath Shinde, recently declared an additional ₹54 crore to implement the 'Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana' in the Karnataka border villages, which is being contested by the Maharashtrian government.

The move by Maharashtra has been deemed an insult to the Karnataka government by the Congress President, D K Shivakumar, and the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Siddaramaiah. They have demanded the resignation of Bommai in response to accusing him of having failed in protecting the interests of the state and Kannadigas.
