The Election Commission of India has announced the schedules for assembly elections in five states to be held next month. The states are Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram. The polls in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases, on November 7 and 17. The elections in all other states will be held on a single day. The counting of votes will take place on December 3 for all five states.
In Madhya Pradesh, which is governed by the BJP, 230 constituencies will choose their legislators, while in Rajasthan, under Congress governance, there are 200 assembly seats up for election. In Telangana, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi will compete with the BJP and Congress for control over 119 assembly seats. In Chhattisgarh, where there are 90 assembly seats, the Congress is poised to challenge the BJP. Furthermore, both political parties are vying to gain influence in the 40-seat Assembly of Mizoram, which is presently under the leadership of the Mizo National Front.
Nearly 16 crore voters will be eligible to cast their ballots in the upcoming assembly elections in five Indian states, according to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. Kumar also stated that the Election Commission is taking strong steps to ensure these polls inducement-free.
