AIMPLB Launches Women's Inheritance Rights Movement to ensure equal property rights

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) plans to launch a nationwide campaign with the aim of ensuring that women get their fair share of inheritance as prescribed by Sharia law. Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas, the AIMPLB spokesperson, emphasized that despite the legal provisions, many daughters often do not receive their father's legal inheritance. In addition, the mother's rights to her son's property and the widow's rights to her husband's property were sometimes violated.

Amid the ongoing discussions regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) to harmonize personal laws in India, AIMPLB is under pressure to undertake reforms. In view of the various social challenges faced by women in the country, such as feticide, dowry, delayed marriage, violation of human dignity, workplace exploitation and domestic violence, AIMPLB was determined to take internal action in support of social reform. To promote this social reform initiative, the country was divided into three regions, each with a secretary to oversee the efforts. These secretaries were Maulana S. Ahmad Faisal Rahmani, Maulana M. Umrain Mahfooz Rahmani and Maulana Yasin Ali Usmani.

The Board of Directors is highly appreciated for its commendable efforts towards UCC. He effectively mobilized about 6.3 million Muslims to participate in the 22nd Law Commission's investigation into the UCC. The AIMPLB is determined to continue its efforts against the UCC.

Furthermore, the AIMPLB working committee has expressed concerns over the government's stance on Waqf assets. Accordingly, the council intends to organize Waqf conferences in five important cities of the country with the aim of discussing the Shariah status of Waqf, challenges faced by Waqf properties and solutions feasible for these problems.

The AIMPLB Working Committee discussed the new conciliation law in depth. It was agreed that a committee, composed of esteemed legal experts and headed by the Secretary-General, would carefully analyze various aspects of the law and explore its potential in addressing marital and other social concerns.

The meeting was chaired by Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, Chairman of the Council and moderated by Maulana Mohammed Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, Secretary General of the Council, and was attended by a number of esteemed members and guests for in-depth discussions on these important issues.

In summary, AIMPLB actively takes measures to promote gender equality in inheritance, addresses social difficulties faced by women, and actively participates in legal and financial reforms. product. They also actively participate in discussions on the Uniform Civil Code and other related issues.
